When a finger is smashed how long does it take the nail to fall off?

It varies depending on how much damage was done to the nail bed. Sometimes it comes off in stages - ie not all at once.


(Personal experience from when I was a kid was about a week. D*** car door! And the greatest relief was soaking the finger in water - so that summer I went swimming every day.)When a finger is smashed how long does it take the nail to fall off?
I don't know. I remember getting my finger smashed in a doorway when I was in Sunday School (I was four at the time). But I can't remember how long it took for the nail to fall off.
