I think that they are way too long considering one broke off today. Can I cut them myself without having to go to a vet or is going to the vet the only option I have? Thanks in advance and no ridiculous answers please. What do I with my hamster's long nails?
Its fine and easy to clip your hamster nails by yourself and it will also save you 15$ for a vet visit. Here is a good website with pictures and instructions. You can get clippers at a local pet store. Good luck!

You can trim them yourself but you gotta make shure that they are the wright type for hamsters. You can by them at pet smart, petco and plenty of other places. If i were you i would go to the vet the first time so you will know exactly the right way how to do it.
Good Luck=D
You can clip them yourself, I used a wash cloth to cover their eyes and hold them in the palm of you hand and be care full how far down you cut [ they have veins that will bleed] , I did mine. Use a good nail clipper. I do my birds that way too.
Hi
You can trim them yourself. Once you have got the hang of it it should be easy.
Firstly: Hoild your hammy in a firm but gentle positon, so he/she is laying on their backj and not able to struggle. Someone else will have to help you with this, using the smallest nail clippers you gave or nail scissor, cut a veryt small amount of each nail. Axoid going past the white line, clale dthe wuick, if it soes bless. rub a smakll about of vasilene on the area. But it will unlikely happen. it will save you a lot of money.
You can do it yourself or take it to the vet. I would recommend taking it to the vet THE FIRST TIME because you don't want to hurt your pet. Watch carefully as the vet cuts his nails, and don't be afraid to ask questions. It is very important that you know what you're doing. Ask the vet to recommend a brand of good-quality clippers that you can buy. After all, you gotta love your hamsters, right?
i would go to the vet and get them to trim them if you down to low they could bleed real bad and it might kill them
good luck hoped i helped
3 options
cut them your self-easy but you might cut too much
go to vet-safe but expencive
use a nail file-GENTLY file the nails, takes a little time but there is no way you will hurt you pet, that is what i do
you can buy baby nail clippers and just clip them. But ot too short! They do need some nails or themsleves!!!! :-)
you can cut them yourself but i prefer to take mine to a vet because im scared of cutting the wrong bit and making them bleed! the vet will do it properly but if u r confident to do it yourself you can buy special small animal nail clippers. but make sure u wear garden gloves when doing it to avoid getting a bite!
