I do all our cats nails twice a month. If I wait longer the points get too sharp and will start ripping furniture again.
Be careful not to cut too deep or you'll hit the vein and cause a lot of pain as well as bleeding. Cornstarch is a good coagulator, but the nail will hurt them for days, so be cautious. How long should i wait in between nail cuttings with my kitten?
Kitty nails like your nails can grow at different rates. I always know when it's ';time'; when kitty comes to knead in my lap and I say ';Ouch!';. It may be just one nail that needs to be trimmed down. How long should i wait in between nail cuttings with my kitten?
Cats naturally like to scratch things, and this wears down thier nails. Get a nice scratching post (bonus dividend: Kitty won't tear up the furniture..as much...) and let nature take it's course.
Mine seems to grow really fast, so it's often 4-6 weeks between each trimming. When he starts using his scratching post more and gets a little more rough with his nails, it's time.
You should never cut your cat's claws! Never!
You need to get scratching posts for your cat.
I trim my fuzzies about every ten days, not every nail needs clipping, but just the hook part
When you feel his/her claws cutting into you while sitting on your lap, it's time to do it again. Trim only the outer part. Cat claws are sensitive beyond that.
About once a month as a routine. Do it the same day before you apply a flea repellent such as Frontline Plus.
well if you want to make sure she is helthy i would do it every 4 weeks :))
take care
love tori
